Hi, I’m Brian.

I’ve lived in the DC metro area for nearly 30 years and practiced law here since 2004. My work is debt defense, foreclosure prevention, and bankruptcy for individuals and businesses in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC. I care about the law, and I care even more about getting people out from under debt that is crushing them.

I started Lee Legal in 2008, and it is a solo practice by design. When you call, you talk to me. When you hire me, I handle your case from the first conversation to the final order.

Clear communication matters to me. I explain what the law does and does not do in plain English, so you can make informed decisions, and I tell you what I think even when it is not what you hoped to hear.

Before Lee Legal, I was a paralegal in the Special Litigation Section of the Civil Rights Division at the U.S. Department of Justice. In law school I externed with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and interned at the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.

I am admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia, before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and in the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the District of Columbia, the District of Maryland, and the Eastern District of Virginia.

I am a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, where I served as District of Columbia State Chair from 2014 to 2016, the Northern Virginia Bankruptcy Bar, and the American Bankruptcy Institute. I earned my B.A. in History from Rutgers University and my J.D. from the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University.

I file Chapter 7, Chapter 13, and Chapter 11 cases, including Subchapter V for small businesses. I defend foreclosures, in court and at the negotiating table, and I defend debt collection lawsuits for consumers and businesses.
